  Game should be possible with 25-27 HCP + shape, and a probably combined losing trick count of 14. With 6 Clubs and a strong hand with game possible, bid at the 3 level, a clear forcing bid.

  Well, if you don't use Stayman and wanted to bid 2 clubs - you can't. Because the enemy have interfered with 2 diamonds. Game is unlikely in NT, with a maximum 22HCP, even with your 6 card Club suit. Game in anything else seems unlikely. But you want to compete in the auction rather than give up. Bid an artificial 2NT, "Lebensohl", forcing your partner to reply 3 Clubs, which you can then pass. This avoids you bidding 3 Clubs, which would be interpreted as strong.

  By bidding the enemy suit you are re-instating Stayman, albeit at a higher level. Your partner can deny a 4-card Major by bidding 3 NT
